Take with a large grain of salt...
According to Kotaku.com (via French gaming site, Jeux-France) Sony Computer Entertainment VP Georges Fornay was quoted as saying:
"Enfin, pour Final Fantasy XIII, je peux vous dire que l'exclusivit© est en discussion."
Roughly, that means "Finally, for Final Fantasy XIII, I can say to you that exclusiveness is under discussion." Could it be that FFXIII may see a release on other consoles? Or is this just a miscommunication?

In an interview with Gemanga, Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura, Yoshinori Kitase, Motomu Toriyama, and Tosirou Tsuchida discussed Final Fantasy XIII's battle system.
For Final Fantasy XIII, Tsuchida was asked to develop a "flashy, speedy" battle system that allows players to play as fast as an action title but still input commands. He says that the new system will allow for more options despite the added speed, and melee and magic attacks will be able to be strung together. Because of the new battle system, XIII will incorperate a new animation process during battle to accomodate the combination moves.
As for enemy encounters, it seems that XII's non-random system will be back with some modifications. According to Tsuchida, battles are not quite encouter-based and not quite seemless.
Toriyama described it as a "party battle system", and mentioned that the enemies you encounter will in some way reflect the current situation in the game. Kitase added that certain enemies will have their own background story.
Kitase also mentioned that the White Engine, rumored to be retired after the release of XIII and Versus XIII is still being considered for future titles.

Word from Tetsuya Nomura is that though Agito XIII is still a long ways off, things are well under way. In fact, the game's plot is now confirmed to be completed.
Unlike FFVII: Before Crisis, Square Enix's other mobile Final Fantasy title that used episodic downloads of content over a period of time, Agito XIII will be available in a complete package right from the beginning.
Nomura also revealed that Agito's storyline is massive, and it is shaping up to be the equivalent of a full-fledged numbered Final Fantasy title. He also mentioned that his other mobile title, Monotone, contains some early versions of elements we will see in Agito XIII.
One last note, it seems that the current generation of cell phones aren't quite up to snuff when it comes to Agito XIII... and that Square Enix is considering releasing the game on the next generation of phones, which may push the release back even farther.

According to Japanese magazine Gemanga, A few new details have come to light (finally! ^_^ ) about Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII.
Final Fantasy XIII
* The combat planner will be Toshiro Tsuchida, the same person who worked on FFX and creator of the Front Mission series. * The blond man from the latest trailer will be wild but heroic, and his fighting style will be very humorous. * It was reiterated that FFXIII will still use the White Engine... not the Unreal Engine.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
* The combat system will be similar to Kingdom Hearts, but more realistic. * Nomura wants to include elements of shooting gameplay, similar to Dirge of Cerberus... the point of view will change depending on the character's equipped weapon. * An airship has been confirmed as being a part of the game. * Nomura says that it would be too much work to do Kingdom Hearts 3 and Versus XIII at the same time, so development on KH3 will wait until FF Versus XIII is complete. * Kingdom Hearts 3 will likely incorporate some of the gameplay elements developed for Versus XIII * Versus XIII may be the last Final Fantasy Nomura will direct, as he wants to concentrate on the Kingdom Hearts series instead.

And I don't know why yet. I'm not happy about it, and I'm sure all of you who have been commenting on articles aren't either. This post is just to let you all know that I have noticed, and I am working on doing something about it.
